Historic Electronics Museum
Photos of the Historic Electronics Museum in Linthicum, Maryland were made Thursday, May 24, 2007. When I (KE3Y) and a friend -- another ham, AG3Y -- visited, we were practically the only people at the museum, and we conducted ourselves around the displays.
Westinghouse Defense and Electronics Systems Center in Baltimore gave the museum its start and supported it. Corporate support was continued by Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems after it purchased Westinghouse Defense and Electronics Systems Center in 1996.
The museum pays homage to Westinghouse, a Baltimore fixture for decades, and to defense electronics, concentrating on radar and ECM.
There is little non-defense or non-warfare electronics on display. The first microwave oven comes to mind. The museum promotes ham radio. They have a well-equipped ham radio station in a central location in the museum. They also have an engineering library. The volunteer staff is very helpful and may even tell you some entertaining "war stories." - Travis Hardin
